Baby Furniture is in, Finally.

Just in time for the 1st shower, I got a call to inform me that most of the furniture was in. We are still waiting on one piece but that should be here soon. Of course the minute we got it home I had to see it all put together. Dan and I spent an hour or so building his furniture. For once, Dan was very patient and he steered clear of potty words while assembling. Could it be that with a baby comes patience for the daddy? We'll see. The pictures below are of Baby Dan's room so far.

Couple's Baby Shower

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Dan and I are so blessed to have such great family and friends. We are thankful for everyone attending the shower and the ridiculous amounts of gifts we were showered with. Baby Dan received everything from his travel system to bottles. Looks like he may have even cleared his Pottery Barn registry. I know you need alot of stuff for babies, but where in the world are you supposed to keep all this stuff?
Friday was quite the party at Uncle Paul and Aunt Ann's house. Not only was it a shower for baby Dan, but an unexpected guest arrived home from his 6 month tour in Iraq...PAULIE! Paulie is back home and we all couldn't be happier.
Check out the pics...

More Micah

Micah's Birthday

Micah is here much relief to my sister in-law Jess, who couldn't go one more day with that big boy weighing her down. He was born on June 19th @ 9:12 in the morning. Mommy and baby are doing great! They are heading home this morning (Saturday) so we will see how Layla Grace handles the new addition. I'm sure she will be fine but I look forward to her reaction.
So here's the scoop. Thursday morning I woke up and headed to the hospital at about 7:15am. I didn't want to miss the birth of the new baby in the family. When I arrived Jess was dilated 3cm, she had been 3cm since her doctor's appointment at 10:30am on Wednesday morning. Jess was in great spirits and feeling no pain. She was lucky enough this go round to get the epidural upon her arrival at the hospital. Jess, Brother and I were chatting, anticipating a long day of waiting for the special delivery. Jess' doctor came by at about 8ish and checked to see how Jess was progressing. To our surprise Jess was fully dilated and the baby would be here in no time. Jess caught me off guard when she offered to let me stay in the room to witness the birth of my godchild. I wasn't sure if I was quite ready for this, I mean, I really didn't know what to expect. I didn't have much time to think about though, as I contemplated everything took place. Looks like I was in. It was amazing! Jess was so calm and so great through the delivery. She made it look so easy. Brother was there by her side reassuring her she was doing great job. In a matter of 15-20 minutes we were blessed with Baby Micah Stephen. Just like that Chris and Jess were proud parents for the second time.
As for me, I'm so happy I stayed and witnessed the birth. I feel so much more confident and relaxed about giving birth to Baby Dan Michael. I'm not sure why, but I had a totally different image of what delivery was like. I thought there would be screaming and chaos. I thought there was going to be blood and yucky stuff, but I was wrong. It was very calm, and clean... Kudos to Jess and Brother for a job well done.

I've been slacking, I'll try to get you up to date!

I've been neglecting my blog, sorry. I've been so super busy that by the time I get home I crash and then its time to do it all again. Since my last entry I've got a lot accomplished and even enjoyed a vacation with Dan and my family.

Let's see, I'll start here...

Not too long ago me and my gal pals headed out to register for all of Baby Dan's goodies. Me, Jess, Layla, Michelle, Adrianne and Chrissy headed to Lager's for a quick lunch. After that we headed to Babies R Us to register, only to find out the registry system was down. I didn't want to miss the opportunity of having 3 mommies tell me what I really needed and didn't need, so we registered the old fashion way. I got pen and paper and off we went. When I got home I entered everything over the internet. So that's done... We are registered at Babies R Us and also at Pottery Barn Kids.

Next...

June 10th - June 14th Dan and I headed to Destin to enjoy the beach. My number one most favorite thing in the world to do is lay on the beach. Usually I like to enjoy a couple of cold beers, but that was not an option this year. We stayed with Uncle Paul and Aunt Ann and enjoyed the company of many good friends. Unfortunately I didn't take many pics while I was there, I need to get better about taking pictures.

Doctor's Visit

On Tuesday June 17th, I went in for my second bi-weekly visit. Everything is measuring perfect, blood pressure is great, babies heartbeat is in the 130's, and I've gained 20 pounds. Its a really quick visit in and out.

Questions to the doc:

Q: Is is in the downward position?

A: As far as she can tell Baby Dan's head is down, his butt is to the side, and his legs are up by my ribs.

Q: Why don't they give the pill anymore to dry up the breast milk if the mom is not going to breast feed? (I'm breast feeding, I was just curious)

A: It has been found to cause strokes, so now they just wrap the boobies really tight to dry up the milk. Interesting, right?

I love asking her questions, let me know if you have any questions and I will get the scoop for you. My doctor is awesome and she doesn't mind taking time to talk to me!

I think that may cover it all.

The first of four biweekly doctor visits

On Tuesday Dan and I headed to Dr Schiavi office (I feel like I live there now) for another check up. Everything is great. I've gained about 18 pounds. We also listened to the bambino's heart beat and it was just a racing, which is fine b/c he's working hard in there to get ready for the real world. After every checkup the doc asks us if we have any questions and usually I have something on my mind. This week I decided to ask her when I go into labor when will she let me have the epidural? I was curious about this b/c people always ask, how are you going to give birth?, are getting an epidural? (hell yeah), well your not going to get when you want it they make you wait! (hell no)
Alleluia, Dr. Schiavi (she's truly the BEST) said I CAN have it whenever I'm ready. She explained to me that there is no proof that getting the epidural too soon causes one to have to get a C-section. She said it could possibly prolong labor, but at least I will be comfortable. My thoughts on this is, if I'm going to the hospital its b/c I'm in pain. You go to the hospital for their help to relieve pain and for them to make you feel more comfortable while they take care of the problem, or in my case deliver our child. Why in the world would one have to suffer, its 2008 people...we've put people on the moon, can't someone be sure that I don't have to suffer while birthing a baby?

Getting the baby's room ready

This was my first week off from my morning job and boy have a I kept busy. Grocery shopping, showing houses, cleaning house, painting the little one's room... I'm starting to think that I may have been better off just going to work. Anyway, I decided we needed to paint Dan Michael's room seeing it was a sage color and that would not match too well with the blues and reds that will decorate his walls. Yesterday I scooped up the paint and got to it. I taped everything and then trimmed out the walls. Dan came behind me and rolled the walls, and this task was complete. I was amazed how easy it was. Dan advised me not to get any ideas we are not painting anymore rooms, we'll see.
