Really, Really Sad

This past Sunday we had a very scary experience. Dan Michael came down with his first illness, and it wasn't pretty. It went down like this. He woke up Sunday in a fussy mood, I contributed it to maybe teething and gave him Tylenol. We had plans to go to Uncle Paul's for the Sens Family Christmas so we headed there for noon. When we got there after some time Dan Michael went down for a nap. When he awoke he had a large gob of green yucky stuff. I was upset because I figured that meant he was coming down with something. Well, I sure didn't expect for him to come down with "something" so fast. At about 6:00 when awoke from another nap his little eye was swollen shut. I came out the room and was really shaken up. Uncle Buck advised me that I may want to get him to Children's Hospital. That was really scary, so I sort of lost. I cried like a sissy. I couldn't react like a mom because I was so overwhelmed and saddened by the way my baby looked and by the thought that he may have to go the hospital. Michelle, who has been through it all with a sick baby, stepped in and advised me that I should call in to Dan Michael's doctor and let him advise me what to do. Good thinking! That's what we did. Dan had to talk on the phone with the doctor because I couldn't stop crying when I tried to talk about it. Haha, I know I was pitiful. The doctor diagnosed the baby with pink eye. I think it was a viral pink eye. She called him in some magical drops. Dan scooped up the drops and well our little one is slowly getting better and better. Monday night he broke his fever. Yesterday he was in great spirits. Today, his has no swelling left and just has some redness left on his eye ball.

I'm going to try to take this situation as a learning experience. I pray that I will be able to handle these situations better in the future. Its just so sad to see someone you love so much sick and uncomfortable.

SOLID FOODS

Our little man had his first solid food yesterday, Sunday the 14th. We may have jumped the gun on starting him on his solids but he loved it. At his 4 month visit the doctor told us we should wait until about 5 or 6 months to start him but I couldn't wait. Dan steamed some carrots, then put them in a blender, then added a little water to come up with this delicious dish. Dan Michael would still be sitting in his high chair eating carrots if I let him. He could not get enough. he would get frustrated if I didn't get the next spoonful in fast enough. He's a PIGGY!

Happy Birthday Tad!

Tad is getting to be such a big boy. This past weekend we celebrated his 2nd Birthday. It was a Thomas the Train party and it was all FUN! The was a train that took the guest on a ride. There was a space walk for the big kids. We were even surprised by a Lion that made a visit. This party had it all!
December 11, 2008. AMAZING. This morning we woke up to a pleasant surprise, SNOW! Pleanty of snow. It started about 8 in the morning and went on for about 2 1/2, maybe 3 hours. Everything was covered with snow. Of course things went crazy. I didn't have to go to work, everyone was calling to talk about it. Now its back in the upper seventies, only in New Orleans!

I'd like to share this video with you all so you can understand just why I love him so much. How can you resist this sweet little man? He's talking to me. Most probably trying to say get the camera out of my face and get my bottle. Either way, its just so darn SWEET. Enjoy!

Tummy Time is Fun

Up until the last couple of days Dan Michael hated tummy time. He fussed after only a couple of minutes. Things have suddenly changed and its now a something that he enjoys. He loves to lay on his belly with his toys. He loves to reach for his green dragon that sings. His reaches are still pretty spastic but its clear that what he's trying to do. After playing with his toys he enjoys his knuckle sandwich. He lays there with one sometimes two hands shoved in his mouth. After that he then tries to roll over, or he lays his head down and goes to bed. So PRECIOUS!

Tummy time, this isn't so bad after all.
My daddy isn't the only Dragon I love.

Mollie Anne is also very impressive during tummy time.

Big boys eat off of spoons!

You read it correctly, our big boy had his first encounter with a spoon. Dan Michael has been enjoying his cereal bottles so much that I thought he may like it off the spoon as well. He didn't consume as much as I thought he would, only a few scoops. I was pleasantly surprised at how well he used his little tongue to get it to the back of mouth to swallow. I plan to keep working at this and we will see where it takes us. Its amazing and sad all at the same time to realize how fast they grow.

Pooped Out

Our little one had a long day. Our nightly routine is that we all take a warm bath togehter, then one of us gets out and dries the baby off and gets him ready for bedtime. Then the other person gets out and makes the cereal bottle for Dan Michael. Last night Dan Michael was done. As fast as Dan put his diaper on and turned to get his jammies Dan Michael passed out. He was so cute, so limp, completely out of it. I tried and tried to wake him so he would take his bottle but he had no interest in that what so ever.

October 2008

Our little man is getting so big, so fast. I must catch you all up on his progress. Dan Michael's biggest step this month is that he now gets cereal in his bedtime bottle. We decided to to this because the little man started to wake up in the middle of the night after he was sleeping through the night for weeks. He enjoys this bottle but it has caused some stomach issues for him. He's now a little constipated. We are working through this. Dan Michael is really holding his head up well. He's coohing and responding to me when I talk to him. He's a happy boy and has the most adorable smile. When he smiles I just melt. He likes to be interact with others. He's really not into playing alone on his mat and he hates tummy time. He's a very good boy, crying only if he needs something. Dan and I are truly blessed with an angel. Here's his pictures for this month. Oops, I forgot to mention that Dan Michael is now rolling over too.

Christening

This past Sunday Dan and I had Dan Michael Christened at St. Dominic's church. It was a very special day spent with family and friends. Dan Michael's Godparents are Kellie Andersen and Kevin Kernion. After 10:30 mass Father Don baptized our sweet baby boy. He was very well behaved for the ceremony. Thank you to all our family and friends who showed up to witness his special day.

The baptism was followed by another unforgettable Crowley throw down. We celebrated with plenty of food, plenty of wine, and plenty of fun. Here are some pictures. KELLIE I need you to send my the pics from the ceremony, PLEASE!

Looks like his daddy here.
